For Republican gubernatorial candidate Roy Moore, the race is over, but he came away with a huge Cost Per Vote victory. Campaign Contributions, being one of Judge Moore’s campaign issues, it’s clear to see he followed his own edict, averaging slightly more than nine dollars per vote received. Front runner Bradley Byrne spent more than thirty-four dollars per vote received,  and contested runner up Tim James spent nearly thirty-five dollars for his bailiwick. (CPVR numbers are approximate)

Judge Roy Moore repeatedly campaigned against special interest contributions, warning of the obvious obligation strings that would not attach to the publicans best interest. So at the end of the day, who would have predicted that the public at large would one day be a special interest group?

Too bad for Moore the public didn’t see it that way…

Moore Actions

With the Gubernatorial primaries just days ahead, Alabama voters are collating all of those carefully selected words their campaigning politicians have formed into would-be promises.

Most candidates say they like to hunt, fish and shoot guns but truthfully, why don’t they just say they support the second amendment’s right to bare arms? Other campaign advertisements acknowledge the right to life and the deity, but there’s no action plan attached to their words.

The irrefutable actions of Roy Moore qualifies him as the only candidate running for the Governor of Alabama, who says what he does, and does what he says.  It’s almost palindromic, and follows Benjamin Franklin’s edict… “Well done is better than well said.”

Judge Moore gave up his usual vocation and accompanying benefits because he would not back down from his believes and principles. More specifically his acknowledgment of God in his court room.

God is self-evident in the Declaration of Independence; In God We Trust is printed or stamped on United States currency; and carved in, on or around most, if not all U.S. Court buildings.

The only way to ascertain a candidates campaign promise is by looking at past actions. Will your elected representative actually do what was promised in the campaign speech?

It’s shameful that candidates don’t realize that the largest special interest group is the citizenry. Let your choice be heard at the ballot box because voting is not a privilege, it’s a right. Read the rest of this entry »

Police Week | Washington DC

More than 8,000 Police Officers, survivors of fallen officers and friends watched from the West Front of the U.S. Capitol today as President Barack Obama delivered his tribute to those who gave their live in the line of duty. The general theme was not how they died, but rather how they lived their lives. Obama told survivors their sacrifice will not go unnoticed and that his administration would provide support for their cause, and promote the Memorial’s mission.

In October of 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation designating May 15th as National Peace Officers’ Memorial Day. Since the signing of this proclamation, this date has been the official day for recognition for law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

This is the 29th year the Fraternal Order of Police and its Auxiliary have held the National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service.

The Fraternal Order of Police is the largest law enforcement labor organization in the United States, with more than 327,000 members.

Country music star Lee Ann Womack performed a musical tribute in honor of the fallen officers and their surviving family members, colleagues and friends who attended the ceremony.

Ceremonies come to a close at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington DC, as the pipe and drum corps parade arrives to pay their respect to fallen officers. The Memorial is open to the public year-round, 24 hours a day in honor of those brave men and women who sacrificed their lives protecting us throughout history.

In 2000 President Clinton, and the congress authorized the establishment of the first-ever National Law Enforcement Museum to open in 2013 adjacent to the Memorial.

Visitors will be treated to a high-tech, interactive glimpse behind the badge, plus a fascinating lesson in the history of this noble profession. Memorial Fund Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Craig Floyd says “The experience will help citizens better understand and appreciate the vital role of those who bravely enforce the law and keep America safe from crime and terror.”

Courtney Kemp, the widow of 27-year-old Roy Wyatt Kemp of Jonesville who died on the rig, answered the phone on Sunday said she couldn’t answer questions about her husband right then… ”We’re having a party today,” she said, crying. “Our oldest daughter just turned three.”
